INTERNATIONAL BALTIC COMPETITION FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS 2017

1. General terms

1.1. The presented Regulation regulates the order and the contest procedure of the International Baltic Competition of Young Musicians in the nomination “Strings” (hereinafter referred to as the Competition).

1.2. The dates of the competition: March, the 14th – the 19th 2017. The Competition is to be held in the Latvian Emil Darzin Music School.

1.3. The goals and objectives of the Competition:

– preservation and enhancement of the best traditions of the performing art;

– finding and support of talented children in the field of musical performing art and promotion for their future professional development;

– promotion of academic music as one of the most important parts of spiritual and moral education of the rising generations;

– development of the educational system in the field of culture and arts, sharing the experience of the leading masters in the field of musical education. 

 

2. Participants of the Competition

2.1. The Competition is open to participants from any country.

2.2. The competition is held in the following categories: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp.

2.3. All the participants are divided into three age groups / maximum time limit :

Harp

I r. – up to 8 min.

The age of each participant is defined according to the age in years on the 14th of March 2017.

 

3. Repertoire &The Competition Procedure

3.1. Each piece of music can be performed only in one round.

3.2. All the Competition auditions will be open to the public.

3.3. For participants of the category Harp, the Organizing Committee provides concert pedal harp Chicago Concert Grand Extended and Camac Mademoiselle harp 40 strings.

3.4. The order of the performances is determined by drawing lots and kept during the Competition.

3.5. The participant must perform the program indicated in the application.

3.6. The Organizing Committee can provide an accompanist according to the application and at additional expense. In that case, the participant needs to send to the Organizing Committee till February 12, 2017 piano scores with marks about possible reductions and so.

3.7. The rehearsal time is limited.

5. Application procedure

5.1. To participate in the Competition it is necessary to fill the application form.

The application form and the supporting documents are to be sent by e-mail to the address:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .The application can be found and filled in on our website www.artculture.eu , and also we send on an e-mail according to your requirement. 

5.2. Applicants must supply the following documents:

- copy of birth certificate / passport;

– a short biography including musical education, names of teachers, prizes and other awards (doc* format);

– recent photo in electronic *jeg format.

- scanned copy of payment of participation fee (for non-Latvian participants).

5.3. Application forms should be filled clearly and contain complete and accurate information that is considered for final. Application certifies that the applicant accepts the conditions of the Competition.

5.4. The payment of the participation fee should be transferred to the given official bank account.

5.5. The application will be accepted and finished after completing the Application form, having sent the material for the audition and paid the participation fee.

5.6. Participation fee is not deductible.

5.7. The payment of participation fee is made by transfer to the following Bank details: AS "SEB banka", Account Nr. LV84UNLA0050024118583, SIA "ArteFebs", reg.Nr. 40203000772, in the purpose of payment must specify: Name, Surname, music instrument and age category, participation fee International Baltic competition for Young Musicians.

5.8. The application form and the supporting documents are to be sent by e-mail to the address:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. not later than the 10th of February 2017 (including). The application forms sent later than the pointed date are not to be considered by the Organizing Committee. 

 

6. The Competition Jury

6.1. The jury panel consists of famous European musicians – performers, professors, pedagogues.

6.2. The jury panel may decide on the reduction of the program of the performances.

6.3. The jury panel decisions are final and not subjects to revision.

 

7. Prizes and Awards

7.1. Those participants of all age groups who have got the first, the second and the third places are awarded with the titiles of the Competition laureates. The finalists who have not become laureates are awarded with the titles of the Diploma holders.

7.2. The Competition Jury may:

– award not all the prizes;

– share the prize places between the contestants;

– award special prizes for the best performance of specific compositions;

- award special prizes for the best performance of compositions of Latvian composers;

– award the teachers who have brought up the laureates of the Competition.

7.3. State and social organizations, commercial structures and business people, creative alliances and charity foundations may establish special prizes and awards for the participants of the Competition.

 

8. Financial Conditions

8.1. Participation fee:

  • А group – 50 Eur

  • В group – 65 Eur

  • С group – 85 Eur

  • For participants of categories Viola and Double bass – 85 Eur

8.2. The deadline for the transfer of participation fee is 15/02/2017.

8.3. The Organizing Committee assists to the participants in obtaining visa for Latvia, accommodation and food, transfers and excursions if necessary. In case of Application cancellation, related to hotel reservation and for reasons beyond the Festival’s managers control, paid in advance amount cannot be returned. Each participant has the opportunity to extend his stay.

8.4. Further to the schedule of the Festival we offer optional programme possibilities for spending the free time, or prolong the stay in Latvia. The expenses for the optional programme should be covered by the participants. If the participant shows interest in extending the stay the Organizers should be informed during the application process.

8.5. Participants (or sending organizations) are responsible for all expenses connected with their participation in the competition (arrival, departure and stay in Latvia, return tickets, accommodation, meals, medical services and others).

 

9. Special Conditions

9.1. The Organizers reserve the right to photograph, film, record and distribute the performances of the festival program without paying rights and compensations. Participants are not allowed to have any claims for copyright of the photo, video or audio materials. The copyright of all video and audio material, pictures are ownership of the Organization of the Competition.

All rights of the information provision exclusively belong to the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

9.2. Application certifies that the applicant accepts the conditions of the Competition.

9.3. All foreign participants have to have an insurance for the period of their stay and participation in a competition.

9.4. Children under 16 years old (and their musical instruments) will be the responsibility of their parents or legal guardians and must be supervised all the time by their parents or legal guardians.

9.5. The participants are responsible for their international travelling and all visa procedures if required.

9.6. It is important to note that the Organizer accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to the participants possessions.

9.7. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make any changes in the regulation, schedules and other information related to the Competition.
